Position Focus:
Plans, oversees, and executes software development projects which aid the organization in achieving its strategic goals. Develops strategies for leveraging technology to support functional business processes, realizes operational efficiencies, and ensures data quality and availability. Plans, measures, and mentors a team of software developers. Works with Project Manager to develop and manages project work plan, resource plan, project management plan and other specific deliverables - fundamental understanding and experience with Project Management methodology (work breakdown structures, project plans, resource plans, critical path execution). Supports technical solutions via Ready to Serve work including break/fix, user support, and maintenance activities. Estimates work effort for technical team activities and technical team staffing. Coordinates and leads activities across technical resources and technical units to support the delivery of the project scope within schedule and cost constraints. Identifies and resolve technical issues. Identifies and mitigates technical risks. Identifies technical requirements, including support and operational requirements. Facilitates and guides solution architecture design. Review functional designs for acceptance to development teams. Coordinates HW/SW requirements and procurement. Leads technical design, build and unit test. Prepares and supports testing environments and manages code migrations. Supports testing, including data preparation, environment refresh & population, application fixes, etc. Manages system performance testing, desktop compatibility testing and other technical testing. Leads defect tracking and resolution during warranty period and perform transition to operating team. Ensures smooth transition to the operations team. Leads creation of technical deliverables as defined by the project manager and development life cycle. Understands and follows Yale's Project Management delivery methodology (Waterfall & Agile), including deliverables. Works with leads to help ensure that architecture and security reviews are completed and appropriate remediation is taken. Works with software vendor and the functional/technical team in managing application level configurations.

Principal Responsibilities
1. Develops functional and/or service goals that ensure conformity and uniformity with University policies within their assigned area of responsibility.
2. Oversees new and existing systems and services development to include modification of existing systems.
3. Evaluates user needs and implement systems and solutions to best service the community.
4. Consults with users and IT functions to diagnose and resolve complex problems.
5. Serves as a liaison between area of responsibility and other areas to ensure conformity with department and University goals.
6. Develops troubleshooting and problem resolution programs to ensure a high level of service and efficiency.
7. Influences and collaborates with clients and ITS functions to maximize the delivery of services and solutions.
8. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field and four to nine years of related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Proven experience using , Microsoft Reporting Services, SQL Server 2008, SSIS, XML, Web Services in a development environment.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, including SSIS and SSRS and OOD Design. Experience developing and delivering custom solutions using technology detailed above utilizing various delivery methodologies (waterfall, agile, etc).
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Proven ability to scope and provide estimation of effort for complex projects.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Proven ability to independently resolve problems.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Ability to formulate and articulate technical vision and solutions to support customers business. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proven leadership skills.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Demonstrated exp. in designing and implementing enterprise-scale software systems, including data warehouse/business intelligence implementations. Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, including SSIS and SSRS and OOD Design. 5

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
