Position is for a Community Liaison who will facilitate and coordinate the recruitment of qualified pregnant women to participate in a research study for a new model of group prenatal care called Expect with Me in Detroit, Michigan. The Community Liaison will:
Implements and manages all aspects of the recruitment process to meet defined enrollment targets. Cultivates key relationships within the local community to ensure effective collaboration and
partnering. Coordinates and participates on the local advisory board. Delivers face to face referral meetings with community groups and agencies to promote awareness about and engagement of pregnant
women in the program. Provides referral tools to medical practices and other referral partners. Identifies and implement best practices for study participant identification, enrollment, and retention. Collaborates with the study team to ensure optimal enrollment and program participation. Actively engages study participants to address questions and technical concerns. He/She will regularly communicate with other implementation sites and the broader study team. Must be able to work non-traditional and flexible hours (including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends) and travel in and around surrounding communities of Detroit, Michigan, as needed.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Researches and collects data through site or home visit intakes; library research; structured interviews; or through other means for research projects. 2. Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data using scientific or statistical techniques. Modifies and plans research experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments. Assists in research design. 3. Writes and edits material for publication and presentation. Reports on status of research activities. Oversees and instructs research and support staff on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance. 4. Schedules and coordinates research activities. Identifies and recruits study participants. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies. 5. May assist in preparing financial information and monitoring budgets. 6. Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.
Required Education and Experience
Two years of related work experience in the same job family and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Position located in Detroit, Michigan. Must be able to live and work in Detroit, Michigan. Proven ability to work with minimal supervision in a team atmosphere with multiple stakeholders.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Ability to establish a network of community partners to advance program and research study objectives.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Demonstrated strong verbal communication skills, including presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to modify content and delivery to best meet the needs of audience members.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Demonstrated strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, internet explorer and web based applications.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Extremely organized with the ability to provide detailed weekly reports to the team documenting successes and potential roadblocks along with a detailed plan of action.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Fluent in Spanish. BA Degree and 2 or more yrs working in recruitment, program facilitation or sales. Human subject research exp. and/or operational knowledge of prenatal care and women's
health research. Coaching skills, motivational interviewing skills or other knowledge of behavioral change strategies. Prior exp. with health assessment tools, program planning, reporting and evaluation.
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), or other related health certification.
