Reporting to the Deputy Director of Communications, the Development Writer provides support for Yale's fundraising efforts by researching, drafting, and preparing case statements, brochures, news articles, gift announcements, web copy, emails, proposals, and other high-level written communications. Drafts, formats, proofreads, and edits written matter for a variety of high-level print and electronic publications, including brochures, magazines/newsletters, annual reports, websites, presentations, and other communications. Conducts background research and interviews subject-matter experts from all levels and disciplines throughout the university. Interviews students, professors, donors, and other individuals as necessary to draft articles/profiles for a variety of publications. Proactively researches and suggests publication content to support and reinforce the university's fundraising goals. Working closely with colleagues in the frontline fundraising units, edits, reviews, and occasionally drafts proposals seeking support for a wide range of university initiatives as assigned. Coordinates the production and distribution (via mail or email) of publications and other communications as assigned.
This position requires a bachelor's degree and three years of experience writing and editing in a professional setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
